How to check if a New York dispensary is licensed.

Facts from the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) · updated October 7, 2026

New York regulates adult-use cannabis sales through the Office of Cannabis Management. OCM publishes which stores hold an adult-use retail licence. Checking takes a minute.

  1. Look for the OCM verification seal at the store. Licensed dispensaries display an OCM verification seal that carries a QR code, which links to OCM's licence information. If a store shows no seal, use the next step.
  2. Check the address with OCM's verification tool. OCM's dispensary location verification page lets you check an address against the licensed list. It is the official source.
  3. Or check here first. GLASS copies OCM's published licence data and lets you look up a store name or address below. It is a convenience, not a substitute for OCM's own tool.
  4. Allow for timing. The list updates weekly. A store that opened or moved in the last few days may not appear yet, and a licence holder may not be open yet.

Why it matters

OCM sets the rules for licensed adult-use stores, including product testing, packaging and labelling, and sales only to adults 21 and over. OCM publishes those rules and its enforcement actions on its enforcement page. Buying only from stores on the OCM list means the product was sold through the state's regulated system.

What a result on GLASS means

When a store appears here, it means OCM's open dataset lists an adult-use retail licence for that name or address as Active. When it does not, the message says the store was not found on the list as of a date, and points you to OCM's verification tool. GLASS does not name or list businesses that are not in the registry.

Where the data comes from

GLASS reads the Current OCM Licenses dataset on data.ny.gov, which OCM posts weekly. Last updated by OCM October 6, 2026; checked by GLASS October 7, 2026. GLASS is independent and is not affiliated with OCM or New York State. If a store owner sees a mistake in how GLASS shows a registry entry, use the correction form on the store's page.
